Studio Richter Mahr has announced a special charity event commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights taking place at the London Coliseum on 9th December.
The show will see Max Richter performing VOICES, his piece which incorporates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, alongside pieces from Free & Equal Vol.2.
Following the success of Free & Equal Vol. 1, Studio Richter Mahr will release Free & Equal Vol. 2, marking Human Rights Day which takes place annually on 10th December, and raising funds for Médecins Sans Frontières.
Volume 2 will be a collection of contemporary composition arranged for piano, curated by BBC Radio 3’s Elizabeth Alker. Further details of the Free & Equal Vol. 2 EP will be announced later this summer.
Celebrating the release of the EP, a special guest pianist will perform pieces from the EP at the London Coliseum, along with a performance of VOICES by Max Richter and his ensemble.
VOICES was originally released in 2020, and both reflects on, and includes readings from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is made up of a radically reimagined ensemble dominated by the low frequencies of basses and cellos.
