One of the most exciting talents in UK Jazz, Judi Jackson, has announced a show at Islington Assembly Hall on 17th November, as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival 2019.
The Virginia-born singer arrived in London in 2017, and has since caused a stir with her astounding voice that has seen her compared to the greats, and saw her recently become the first artist-in-residence at the famous Savoy Hotel in The Strand, as well as becoming nominated for Best Female Vocalist at the 2019 Jazz FM Awards.
At 16, Jackson opened for Mavis Staples at the Jefferson Centre. Aged 18, at university on a scholarship, she teamed with Snarky Puppy to record her song, ‘Only You’, for their Grammy-winning 2013 album, Family Dinner: Volume One, before residencies across the world including in London, New York, and Qatar.
Her 2018 album ‘Live In London’ showcased Jackson’s talent at its best; telling stories and delivering each show as if it were her last, with its vibrant swoop of 14 tracks aided by an 11-piece band of London’s hottest hotshots.
With a studio album in the works, and no doubt some of it on display at Islington Assembly Hall, the buzz is getting louder!
